Position: NZART's Approved Radio Examiner (NZART ARX)

Location: Anywhere in New Zealand.

Responsible to: NZART Council

Qualification required:

This position requires a person who is listed as an "Amateur radio operator examiner" (ARX) by the New Zealand administration, the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) Radio Spectrum Management Group (RSM). This brings the qualifications necessary to access SMART, the RSM's "Spectrum Management and Registration Technology", as an "Approved Radio Examiner" for amateur radio operators.

Description of Position:

The NZART ARX is a specialist officer position within NZART (see: NZART Constitution 1.2 j.)

The primary function of the NZART ARX is to respond to and action enquiries on amateur radio operating and amateur radio callsign matters from NZART members and from the general public within New Zealand and overseas.

Competent on-line operation of RSM's SMART database is required in accordance with the RSM PIB46 document and the Callsign Policy requirements set by NZART Council.

This position requires regular contact with and is responsible to, MED RSM, as part of the MED-approved ARX function.

To help to maintain continuity of service, a Deputy NZART ARX will assist the ARX following this same Job Description. (See NZART Constitution 4.7 b and also "Council Procedure for the Handling of Officer Replacements", Paragraph 2.)

Advisory support to the NZART ARX is given from a Council-appointed specialist in international amateur radio on-air activities.

By delegation and as authorised by NZART Council, an AREC Officer as Assistant to the NZART ARX will process all callsigns used exclusively by AREC (see NZART Constitution 4.7 c).

The ARX and assistants may make enquiries as necessary and liaise with other NZART officers and groups.

Work Experience:

An understanding of the International Radio Regulations, New Zealand's radio regulatory scene, the New Zealand amateur radio qualification examination and callsign structures is desirable.
