This month, the big news is our series on the important metrics we chose to monitor in website monitoring tool, Dawn. Read on for more!
One of the big things we have done with Dawn is to make it flexible. We don't expect that version 1.0 will be exactly right for everyone who wants to use it, and we've built a flexible framework that we can grow as our knowledge of what people need improves. With that said, why did we choose to monitor the particular metrics we did? Find out more in our three part series. Nominate us for two Open Source awardsIf you have a few minutes and like what we do, we'd love your show of support in two awards:
New User Help LaunchesYou asked for it, you got it! SilverStripe has a new version of User Help to be compatible with the 2.4 version of the CMS. As promised, we've shifted the focus away from features and take an approach we believe will be more useful to the content editor - explaining how to get things done in the SilverStripe CMS. Once again, we want to thank everyone who helped us with this project, and hope you and your users find it useful. SilverStripe 2.4.1 UpdateWe're pleased to announce 2.4.1, our first update to the 2.4 codebase. You can check a full list of changes in our changelog, and check out some highlights on our blog post announcing the update. 2.4.1 is primarily a security release for vulnerabilities discovered recently and contains all enhancements and bugfixes since the 2.4.0 release. We'd like to thank those in our community who took the time to submit bug reports and test SilverStripe! You can download 2.4.1 here (please read our installation instructions and upgrade notes). SEO and ContentSilverStripe's built in search-engine-friendly features (like hierarchical URLs and the ability to write good, clean semantic HTML templates) are a major consideration into what we're building out. We are also developing a link checker module, and if you want to check website performance (which also affects SEO rankings) there's the Dawn service. ??But one of the most important parts of SEO is often overlooked. SEO can maximize traffic, but it can't help you generate traffic. For that, you have to create content. Read more about it on our blog. We wish you all the best for the month and look forward to getting back in touch in October! Sigurd Magnusson SilverStripe |
