Whangarei Branch 28 Equipment Sale and entertainment
Debby Says… Another successful conference has come and gone and a very special thanks goes to the Nelson organising committee and Branch for their tremendous efforts for not only ensuring there was something appealing for everyone to enjoy, but also turning on the most beautiful weather we have enjoyed over a Queens Birthday weekend for a number of years.
Many of you will have heard on the broadcast from conference that Council had agreed to run a membership promotion from the end of June. Council has now reconsidered this date as new information was recently learned from our Administration Liaison Officer and RSM regarding the removal of silent keys. It appears that RSM have a large number of death certificates and address amendments they have yet to process so their database will be accurate.
A membership drive is quite costly so Council do want to make sure that we reach as many non-members as possible and do not upset anyone whose partner or spouse may have become a silent key. The membership drive will now be posted out during September. More details of this will be advised shortly.
Council Vacancy Midland District
The recent resignation of Simon Lewis ZL4PLM from Council has created a casual vacancy and in accordance with the Constitution, clauses 3.7 d. and e., Council wish to make an appointment to fill this position. If any member in the Midland Electoral District is interested in putting their name forward, please contact Debby ZL2DL at Headquarters. If you have any questions about this position on Council or would like more information, please contact the President, Vaughan ZL1TGC by email: email@example.com or phone (09) 4181071.
NZART 5 MHz Working Party
As members may be aware, it was agreed at WRC 2012 that the next WRC will consider a possible new allocation to the amateur service on a secondary basis within the band 5 250-5 450 kHz and invited the ITU-R:
1 to study spectrum requirements for a secondary allocation to the amateur service within the band 5 250-5 450 kHz;
2 to carry out sharing studies on the impact to other services currently allocated in the band referred to in invites ITU-R 1 and in the adjacent bands;
3 to complete studies in time for WRC-15.
The ALO, Don Wallace (ZL2TLL) would like to put together an NZART working party to look at what we can do in New Zealand to gather evidence to support an international allocation in the 5 MHz area.
To revive and maintain interests and good fellowship among the older members in the common cause;
To offer advice and encouragement to newer Amateurs;
The Club is affiliated to the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters (Inc.)
Having attended the OTC AGM in Nelson 2012, without realising at the time a new OTC scribe for the Break-In column was asked for, placed my hand up a few days later and this was accepted. The first column has been drafted with AGM details and minutes for the next Break-In due August 2012, so ask for additional input from OTC members, not only the next, but following OTC columns.
Articles relating to all aspects of OTC or of vintage radio for publication in the OTC section of Break-In are most welcome, and to be addressed to our new Scribe, Stephen ZL1TPH; Postal address, 68 Kath Hopper Drive, Orewa, 0931 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org We also accept large picture files sent via email and will transcribe hand written letters into text.
