How to Check Your Entry In The
Radio Spectrum Management's SMART Service

SMART (Spectrum Management and Registration Technology) service

(This outline summary refers to the version of SMART in service from April 2009)
Note: Throughout, you can click on BACK to back out and to return to an earlier screen.
To start: Go to: http://rsm.govt.nz/, click on SMART at the top right of the screen. Or, go to
http://www.rsm.med.govt.nz/ .
** Click on: Search Certificates and Callsigns **

A. From Knowing a Callsign, to Find The Operator’s Name and Address:

  1. Start at ** (see above). Type the callsign in the appropriate box.
  2. Click on “Search” at bottom right of the page. This will direct you to a list of one or more names and callsigns -in which you should find the one you seek.
  3. Click on the Client Number you seek.
  4. Click on Addresses and Contacts. This will show you the Billing/Postal and Residential/Physical addresses -and the publicly-exposed items. You are required by the Radio Regulations to keep your own contact details up-to-date. Please ensure that your viewed details are current.

B. From Knowing The Operator’s Name,
to Find Callsign(s):

  1. Start at ** (see above). Click on Search Client (in the middle of the page).
  2. Type the last name of the operator in the appropriate box. Click on Search.
  3. View the list. (Note the NEXT button for the next page of long lists.) Identify your name selection and click on the round button on the extreme left of the entry. Then click on SELECT at bottom right. (This returns you to the earlier search page but with your selected name now entered in the appropriate box.)
  4. Click on SEARCH at bottom right. This provides you with name, callsign(s) and with a click on the Client Number can lead you on to addresses and publicly-exposed items.

C. To Make Changes to Your Contact Details and
to Print a Copy Of Your Certificate:

(You will have been provided with your own personal access code information by RSM. If you have mislaid these, return to the opening page ( ** above); read the instruction panel to request assistance.)

To make changes to your stored information, you need to “log on” as follows and then search for your entries.

  1. At the SMART opening page, click on “Logon” at upper right, then “Log on”. (The ”Logon” then changes to “Logoff”.) Click on Search Certificates & Callsigns.
  2. Click on Search Client (in the middle of the page). Enter your Last Name. Press “Search”. (Your Client Number will appear as a live link.)
  3. View the list. (Use the NEXT button to view the next page of long lists.) Identify your name selection and click on the round button on the extreme left of the entry. Then click on SELECT at bottom right. (This returns you to the earlier search page but with the name you selected now entered in the appropriate box.) Click on Search.
  4. Your name and callsign(s) are shown with live links for your Client Number and Certificate Number on the same line.
  5. Clicking on Client Number reveals entries that can be edited, with links to your addresses.
  6. Clicking on Certificate Number reveals your certificate details which can then be printed or emailed to an email address.

D. Continue Checking:
