The New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters Incorporated The NZART Policy on CB was published in July 1978 Break-In page 222 Council has approved this edition for publication The Policy of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters, Inc. towards Citizen Band Radio is:
There is a need for short-range personal radio communications in the community.
Citizen Band Radio should be allocated UHF frequencies to ensure short-range high reliability working. The Australian choice of 476 MHz is excellent.
CB operators who wish to extend their interest should be encouraged to become radio amateurs.
CB operators are welcome as members of the Association but must accept that the Association remains firmly committed to benefit of the amateur service in accordance with its constitution. Branches too must ensure that control through their constitution rests firmly in the hands of licensed amateurs and members of the Association.
