Position: Publicity and Marketing Officer
Location: Unrestricted within New Zealand
Responsible to: NZART Council through an appointed Liaison Councillor.
Description of Position
NZART is the body that promotes Amateur Radio within New Zealand.
The Publicity and Marketing Officer is appointed by NZART Council to manage Publicity and Marketing aspects of both Amateur Radio and NZART, and to provide specialist advice to council on related matters.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Publicity of activities
Production of suitable materials
Coordination of media releases.
Duties of the Position
The creation of a small team known as the publicity and marketing subcommittee.
Co-ordination of the promotion of NZART within the Amateur Radio Community and to the public.
Co-ordination of promotion of Amateur Radio in New Zealand.
Managing production of promotional materials and pamphlets from initial design, submission and budget to final production.
Liaising with other sub-committees of Council on matters related to marketing and promotion.
Managing an approved marketing budget on behalf of Council.
Reporting regularly to Council; including an annual written report to Council which must be submitted prior to 1 January each year.
Attend Council face-to-face meetings when requested (normally annually).
Attend Council on-air meetings when requested.
Continually work with the marketing committee to develop and update a marketing plan for NZART.
Work Experience
The Publicity and Marketing Officer will be expected to demonstrate competent performance in:
Publicity and Marketing Business spheres
Understanding of publishing and printing matters.
Use of a wide range of media for publicity.
Managing financial budgets.
Personal Qualities
The Publicity and Marketing Officer will require:
Good team leading skills.
Ability to motivate people to achieve a task.
Some artistic and/or publishing ability.
A good knowledge of amateur radio and the aims and objects of NZART.
Resources
The position is an unpaid annual appointment by Council; however operating expenses will be refunded as per NZART policy on Officer Expenses.
