Contest Manager Required
NZART Council is calling for expressions of interest for the position of Contest Manager. The position becomes vacant in early to mid 2010 and it is envisaged that there will be a transition period before the present Contest Manager retires from the position.

Job Description
Position NZART Contest Manager
Location Unrestricted within New Zealand
Responsible To NZART Council
Description of Position
NZART is a body that promotes Amateur Radio with New Zealand.
The Contest Manager is appointed by NZART Council to co-ordinate and to promote, contest operating for NZ Amateurs.
The Contest Manager reports to NZART Council, through an appointed Liaison Councillor.
Duties of the Position
- To promote contesting among New Zealand Amateurs.
- To keep under review the rules for NZART Contests.
- To manage the conduct of NZART Contests.
- To arrange for presentation trophies and certificates relating to contesting.
- To appoint sub-managers for each NZART Contest as necessary.
- To supervise sub-managers for each NZART contest and to provide advice and guidance where necessary.
- To liaise with overseas Amateur Societies and publications to promote NZART Contests.
- To write a monthly column for Break-In about NZART contest rules and results.
- To adjudicate on the application of NZART contest rules where any dispute may arise.
Work Experience
The Contests Manager will be expected to demonstrate competent performance in:
- Be able to maintain accurate and detailed records.
- Be able to manage a small financial budget.
- Have a good working knowledge of contesting.
- Have good written language skills for competent communication with members, overseas societies, and for the production of the Break In column.
- To be able to work within time constraints and dead lines.
Personal Skills
The Contest manager will require
- Good person skills.
- Understanding of the requirements and issues involved in Amateur Radio Contesting.
- A good knowledge of Amateur Radio and the aims of NZART
The position is an unpaid annual appointment by Council, however operating expenses will be refunded as per NZART policy on Officer Expenses.
