To assist us with a suitable venue and costing"s involved with this celebration, registrations of interest are being sort as well as information on past club members. If you know the contact details of any past member of either Branch 06 or the former Pahiatua Branch 31 could you please bring this email to their attention as well as informing me of their contacts so as invites can be sent out at a later date? 20-January-2007 New Email Discussion List Started today - Packet RadioNZART Webmaster Mark Gooding ZL2UFI advises of a new Email Discussion List started today, after several supporting emails to start a new list. Michael Sheffield ZL1ABS, the Moderator of the List stated today “The New NZART Inc. sponsored general Packet list is go. I just joined via the NZART Inc. web page for lists and have made a test message to verify the Webmaster has enabled it. See you there if you have the interest in Packet type digital modes. Yes, Packet does exist on HF as well as VHF. There are 110 Baud HF Packet experiments going on using MULTIPSK software.” back to top

8-January-2007 VHF Field Day 2006 ResultsVHF/UHF Contest Manager Doug Ingham ZL2TAR advises that the results of the recent VHF Field Day Contest Results held in December 2006 are now available. Click on the above link to view the PDF file. The next contest is the DX Weekend Contest, on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of February 2007. The operating times are: Saturday 1700 to 2300 NZT and Sunday 0700 to 1300 NZT. back to top
7-January-2007 World Scout Movement Announces Centenary Of Scouting Ham Radio AwardThe World Scout Bureau is sponsoring the Scouting 100 Radio Award for contacting Scout stations via Amateur Radio during 2007 -- the centenary of Scouting. This international award is also available to short-wave listeners (SWLs). Stations may be worked/logged on all bands and modes including EchoLink and IRLP, and endorsements are available for special modes or bands, such as "All Satellite Contacts" or "All QRP Contacts." Award activity will focus around the international Scout frequencies (in the Americas, use 7270 kHz as the 40-meter SSB frequency; on 80 meters, avoid RTTY/digital DX on 3590 kHz). Contact Scout and Guide stations for points: Ordinary Scout stations are one point, special event Scout stations are 2 points and World Jamboree, Gilwell Park and Brownsea Island stations are 5 points. Logs should be verified as accurate by two other local radio amateurs. Logs should include name, Scout details and age of operator contacted. Female operators may send "YL" instead of age. Participants should submit age when applying for awards. Complete details are on the Scouting 100 Radio Award Web site. back to top
